Springside’s excellence in science and engineering has helped develop the nationally award-winning CHASS robotics team, finishing 3rd in the world in a recent championship competition. Working on the Robotics team teaches Springside students valuable 21st century life skills such as project visioning and management, teamwork, dealing with constraints and budgets, and calculating the costs and benefits of the decisions they make. At the 2009 FIRST Robotics World Championship, CHASS went up against some of the major teams in the world and came home with the bronze overall and first place in its division. Along the way to the Championship, the team took third place in the New Jersey regional, first place in the Pittsburgh regional, and two design awards. |
